Sister Jean Evans, RSM

For nearly 30 years Sister Jean Evans, RSM, has worked in South Africa, mainly teaching in schools run by the Sisters of Mercy. She has also been involved in conducting retreats, spiritual direction, the writing of articles on the subject of spirituality, and particularly heading the Mmashko Adult Training Centre. She has a Doctorate in Theology from UNISA. For some years Sister Jean was a member of the Executive Committee of the Catholic Theological Society of Southern Africa and, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Society, Fr. Anselm Prior, OFM, wrote the following to Sister Jean:

"I am writing on behalf of the Executive to thank you for all you have done for our Society over the years. You always had creative ideas to share, as well as backing up those ideas with hard effort. It must be difficult for you to be leaving SA after so many years but, no doubt, you have reflected on the matter and realised that the time is appropriate. We wish you God's blessings for your forthcoming endeavours and hope that you will be able to inspire many people as you have here in our country. With very best wishes and Bon Voyage!"

Sister Jean replied: "I really appreciated your letter. It was a surprise and very touching. As you know I really enjoyed being on the CTSSA, it was stimulating, serious and at times, lots of fun. I wish you all the best in the continued work of the Society. Thank you for being such wonderful colleagues."

Sister Jean returns via Europe to her home Province in the United States of America.

God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.  ~St. Augustine
